Name: Thelma Colbert Schoomaker

Born: January 3, 1970

From: Algiers, Algeria

Alma Mater: Cornell University

Her parents are North Americans and she begins to live in the U.S. as a teenager. She attended to Cornell University and studied political science and Russian.

“While doing graduate work at Columbia University, Thelma Schoonmaker answered an ad that offered on-the-job training as an assistant film editor.” as it says in wikipedia. She find interest in films and took a 6- week course in filmmaking in NYU where she met none other than Martin Scorsese.

Schoonmaker is one of the most important women in film history,  she is also one of the best film editors among men in the industry.

This woman is one of the saviors of Scorsese and the responsible of the great editing of film as Raging Bull, The Departed , Goodfellas,  Gangs of New York, Hugo, etc. 

Winner of 3 Academy Awards of 7 nominations. A master.
